So, how much trve kvlt metal cred do I lose if I say that the new Bleeding Through song is a banger?
The metalcore stalwarts are set to return from a six-year break with their eighth full-length Love Will Kill All, and in the meantime they’ve graced us with a blistering preview track called “Set Me Free.”
I was a big fan of the band circa This is Love, This is Murderous, but I’d be lying if I said I’d kept up with them after 2006’s somewhat disappointing follow-up The Truth, so I was surprised to see a press release from their PR folks land in my inbox.
Needless to say my curiosity was piqued and even though I’m not so big on metalcore these days, I have to admit that “Set Me Free” is straight fire. Bleeding Through’s mix of brutish metallic chugging and gothic keyboards that wouldn’t be out of place on a Cradle of Filth record still sounds fresh and unique, and the song itself is both heavy and catchy as all hell.
The promo gods have yet to bless me with a copy of Love Will Kill All yet, but it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the album holds up and I’m kind of excited to have the band back on my radar after all this time.
Love Will Kill All drops on May 25th, if you’re so inclined, you can pre-order the album here.
